Spend the day learning from textile artist Meg Beable, and make your own unique piece of art. All materials are provided and this relaxed, practical day should be a real treat for craft enthusiasts who want to try something new, or artists who want to create art using different media.
Meg will show you how to create mixed-media pieces using fabric, embroidery and even watercolour. The topic of the day is Dandelion Clocks, although this is the sort of energising class where you will be able to follow your ideas. Meg begins by painting in watercolours on fabric, usually on calico, before building it up with different materials – threads beads, & silk, melting, burning & slashing them. All additions on the painting are stitched, not glued.
“In my paintings the threads can become grasses waving in the breeze, the beads become petals, flowers, or spray on the crest of waves & sequins become scales of fish. Silk ribbons are bunched & become remarkably lifelike delphiniums. Bits of netting are torn & used as foliage or water.” Meg Beable
Tea/coffee is included and served at mid morning and mid afternoon breaks.
Tearoom facilities are available for lunch or bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds.
Cost £38.00 including materials. Booking essential
